Nokta Makro is a Turkish manufacturer that released the Legend metal detector in 2021. The other Nokta Makro predecessor metal detectors include their Anfibio, Impact, and Nokta Simplex, but the Legend is their first multi-frequency option.

Nokta Makro has accumulated mixed reviews on their previous Nokta metal detectors, but The Makro Legend is the top-performing Nokta Makro metal detector. They created Makro Legend to compete with other well-known brands with multi-frequency metal detectors. The Legend is a more affordable option than its competitors, contributing to its popularity.

The Nokta Makro Legend is widely available within America and a host of other countries, allowing an ample amount of user experience to share their familiarity with the metal detectors’ efficiency and usability.

Design and Appearance

The Nokta Macro Legend metal detector is designed as a simultaneous multi-frequency detector that ranges between 4kHz and 40kHz. The multiple frequencies allow for better detection, increasing your chances of finding metals at greater depths and pinpointing the target area. You can use the detector at single frequency modes if you wish.

The Legend is fully submersible up to 10ft deep with a waterproof 11″ DD search coil, so if you’re searching in the water and fancy a beach hunt, you can bring this metal detector along. The shaft is carbon fiber and retracts from 52 to 25 inches for comfortable transport and underwater usage.

The Makro Nokta Makro The Legend detector is black, offering a sleek appearance. The size of the metal detector is 22 x 12 x 6 inches, and it weighs 3 pounds, which is on the light side compared to other metal detectors. The lightness of The Legend makes it an excellent tool for long hours of detecting.

The Nokta Makro Legend is Lithium-Ion battery-powered and lasts between 8 and 20 hours, depending on which modes and frequencies you use. The battery is included in the purchase and uses a USB charger.

You can purchase the Nokta Legend with wireless headphones. The display screen is a custom LCD, which offers easily visible data.

Features

The Nokta Makro Legend can function on three multi-frequency settings or single frequencies of 4kHz, 10kHz, 15kHz, 20kHz, and 40kHz, which offers the best sensitivity for the target area and reduces ground noise. Single frequencies allow for better depth perception and faster reactivity.

This multi frequency metal detector has four default search modes, including beachparkfield, and gold field, There is the option for custom user profiles for the more advanced users. The beach mode functions on both wet sand and dry sand.

The Legend metal detector offers 60 harmonic tones and target IDs, which is incredible for metal detecting hobbyists who enjoy finding based on sound. You can adjust the tone frequency, volume, and breaks on The Legend, which has a changeable threshold.

Detection Features

The detector has a pinpoint feature to alert you how close you are to the item and narrow your detection. The Nokta Legend also allows you to use noise cancellation and frequency shift to eliminate EMI easily.

This multi frequency metal detector has a notch filter discrimination ability to select which segments of the ground that transmit wavelengths that are worthwhile digging up. The notch filter helps you detect whether your precious find is ferrous or non-ferrous, which is essential for saving time from digging up useless metals.

The Legend metal detector has FerroCheck along with the notch filter for better detection. It uses VDI and tones to warn you about the detection. The horizontal lines on the display show a ferrous target by a filled-out left bar on the screen and a non-ferrous one by the right.

The Iron Filter feature on the Nokta Makro Legend is software that is included to help further ferrous detection. Nokta Makro often updates its detection software, which you can renew via a USB connection to your computer.

This Nokta Makro metal detector has three ground balance modes: automatic, manual, and tracking. The automatic mode is the default, but you might find the tracking mode more useful when out on soil with various compositions. The manual mode allows you to adjust if you know the ground balance.

Usability Features

The Legend Screen

The Legend metal detector has a flashlight and backlight feature to help you stay longer when you feel like detecting as the sun sets. The flashlight will use extra battery life, but it is a nifty characteristic either way.

Since you might go detecting in water or prefer a silent search, the Nokta Legend has a vibration option instead. Your screen shall guide you on your findings when you use the vibration mode.

A fan-favorite feature of the Nokta Makro The Legend is the clock display on the screen. The Legend will tell you the time and record the hours you spend on your hunting endeavors, a legendary function for people on a time crunch, or those who would like to know how much metal-detecting experience they’ve gained.

The Headset

The headset is Bluetooth connected for a much-needed wireless experience. The headset doesn’t work when detecting in water as the signals can’t emit through. The headphones are incompatible with previous Nokta Makro detectors.

Performance

The Legend’s feature-rich detecting abilities make it an enticing option, but only once they’ve been tested. Many reviews exist on this Nokta Makro detector, and is said to be the company’s best metal detector yet.

Detection Performance

The Legend’s lower frequencies allow for large, deep metal findings such as silver and copper coins. The Legend’s larger frequencies are susceptible to shallow, low-conductivity items like gold nuggets. Reviews on the Nokta Makro The Legend metal detector say it can find precious metals at decent depths.

The threshold level allows this Nokta detector to function well in mineralized soil. The notch function eliminates noise for detections in the specified range, which helps with high-quality finds.

The FerroCheck feature could be better and can often lead you astray, so I suggest to listen to the tones rather than the FerroCheck.

The Nokta Makro the Legend detector holds SMF accuracy even in highly mineralized soil and greater depths, all thanks to its multi-frequency function. The Legend has an SMF algorithm that has proven to be helpful. The SMF gives precise information on the detected frequency.

The tones are sharp and provide excellent ground feedback. Some users took time to get used to them, but the adjustable volume and sound breaks offer a user-friendly experience.

Recovery Speed Performance

Recovery speed helps metal detectors maintain target separation, and the Legend is good at doing so. The Legend has a range of 1 to 10, which is impressive for its price. You’ll need to set the reactivity higher in an area with more pollution and iron for better feedback and less noise irritation.

Usability Performance

The Legend’s square shaft is easily adjustable, and the cam locks snap open and close quickly, with no wobbling, which offers an excellent usability experience. The shaft moves smoothly, and the small 25 inches make the Nokta Legend a dream to transport.

There have been complaints that it is nose-heavy which makes the balance of The Legend uneven. Some users don’t find the balance to be a big issue, but if it is something that would bother you, the heavy nose is something to consider.

The Legend’s modes and settings take a while, and a thorough manual read-through to get used to before taming this metal detector to your liking. The rich features mean that this Nokta Makro detector is not the most beginner friendly.

Battery Life

The Nokta Legend’s battery life is nothing to complain about, as it can last up to 20 hours. If you buy the Legend Pro Pack, you get some extras. An additional capacity accumulator that doubles the battery life and an extra 6″ DD Coil, perfect for hunting in trashy parks or coin shooting. They both come with bluetooth aptX Low Latency Headphones.

Waterproof Ability

Nokta Makro based the waterproof design on their Simplex model, and thanks to its famous hydro seal, it made a comeback on The Legend. Those who have used The Legend for water findings have no complaints about wear and tear or leakages. The vibrations are accurate when metal detecting in water.

Pros and Cons of Nokta Makro the Legend
