XP Deus II Features And First Impression
At first glance, it is a well-designed and sleek metal detector. It is easy on the eye and quick to assemble with straightforward instructions. The stems are matte charcoal grey/black and smooth.
The XP Deus II was released in October 2021 with an impressive, hi-tech multi-media campaign that makes you want to drop everything and buy the Deus 2 immediately. This machine will find your treasures!
The box includes the following:

Opening the box containing the XP Deus 2 is exciting. Everything is neatly packaged and easy to take out since there are no cables to navigate. The upper stem or arm contains the elbow rest and the housing section for the control panel.
The top stem fits into the bottom stem and is secured with a snap connector at the desired length for a quick and no-stress release. This is especially helpful when traveling with limited space because it is only 25.5 inches long when folded.
It is incredibly lightweight at only 800g. The Deus 2 can be easily carried in a backpack or duffle bag. The two stems fit into
The bottom stem is a single rod that fits into the upper arm. It is more of an oval or semi-square shape and smooth to the touch. The coil is easily fitted into the bottom stem with a butterfly-style self-tightening screw.
To attach the control panel, you simply slide off the protective cover and then slide on the control panel until you hear a “click” sound. You can adjust the length of the metal detector so that your arm is in a comfortable position.
The entire assembly takes as little as 3 minutes, from unboxing to treasure hunting. I attribute the rapid assembly to the fact that the XP Deus 2 doesn’t use any cables and is fully wireless. In addition, it has a fantastic ergonomic design.
Programs You Can Access On The XP Deus 2
The XP Deus 2 has 12 programs with other individual adjustable parameters within. The standard programs you will find are:
- General
- Sensitive
- Sensi FT
- Fast
- Park
- Deep HC
- Deus Mono
- Gold Field
- Relic
- Diving
- Beach
- Beach Sens
XP Deus 2 – First Performance Test On A Beach
Using the XP Deus 2 on the beach is an absolute pleasure. Because it is completely waterproof, there is no need for a rain cover on the control panel. However, because beaches tend to have mineralized soil, it is one of the more challenging places to use a metal detector without getting mixed signals.

But this is where the XP Deus 2 excels. First, switch on the XP Deus 2 by putting the coil onto the sand and pressing the power button. The LED will start up, and now you can adjust the settings.
For a beach, you can set the determination to cut out certain unwanted objects, and the sensitivity levels can be high while engaging the Beach button. Due to the XP Deus 2 being fully wireless, you have an unlimited range of motion. With the W.S. 6 headphones, you have the perfect treasure-hunting tools.
If you are planning on entering the water, it would be best to use the waterproof bone conduction headset. Al the XP headsets have dynamic audio options such as PWM and SQUARE. The larger headsets are better for use on a busy beach as they will cup your ears and drown out distracting noises and the sound of the waves.
All headsets should allow you to hear a conversation or a shout if somebody needs to get your attention, but cut out noises above 84dB. You won’t have to dig and find junk with its incredible iron discrimination. It works very well on the beach. It uses multiple frequencies allowing you to find treasures at dept.
The XP Deus 2 has 3 “Beach” modes that can change its salt sensitivity. The highest sensitivity is 9, but that may cause interference if you’re trying to find small jewelry items. You should play around with these settings and adjust the sensitivity as you go along.
When searching wet sand or surf always use the SALT SENS setting as a priority rather than the general sensitivity.
Wet beach sand is known as being conductive. Some beaches contain magnetic material in the form of black sand. The magnetized sand can give false readings and confuse the signals with most metal detectors.
The XP Deus 2 has a unique feature in its G.B. menu called ‘Magnetic.’ It has the option to Accept or Reject. You can switch on the magnetic accept option for the most stable operating conditions.
Testing The XP Deus 2 With Program #11 – Beach
A good idea is to walk a couple of paces up and down and listen to the signals. If you suspect any false signals, you can adjust the reactivity. Salt water is conductive, so another way to get the coil to settle is to run the surf over the coil a few times while the ‘Salt Sensitivity’ setting is adjusted from the maximum to around 7/6.
After making these essential adjustments, a G.B. or Ground Balancing is crucial to prevent further signal interference. You do this by holding the G.B. button and pumping the coil up and down towards the sand, and once it stops making noise, you’re ready to start.
Tip: If you plan to use the coil submerged in the surf or rock pools, you will need to use the antenna kit.
A quick walk on the beach on a cold, miserable morning and we uncovered the following treasures:
- 1 quarter
- 1 silver ring
- 1 gold ring
- 1 silver earring
XP Deus 2 – First Performance Test In A Forest Setting
The XP Deus 2 metal detector’s box states that it has 12 programs, a significantly more extensive program range than the average detector. Unfortunately, most metal detectors don’t easily distinguish between trash metals like cork heads/ bottle caps, small pieces of aluminum, or items of value, like coins.

One of the ways to eliminate trash is by adjusting the iron bias. The best program settings for a forest would be ‘PARK,’ ‘DEUS MONO,’ or ‘GOLD FIELD.’ These three programs are designed to grab specific signals at depth and close to the surface.
You can perform a quick test at home by taking a few items from the house and some jewelry, placing them outside, and running the detector over it a few times. For example, you can put a gold ring inside a sealable plastic bag, bury it a few inches below and check the signal to get the correct setting.
Other small items you can use to run a quick test on as follows:
- A silver ring or necklace
- A dime
- A nail
- A piece of rusted metal
- An aluminum tag
- A cork head
In the forest, the XP Deus is silent for the most part. However, suppose you are in areas where many hikers or campers frequent; you may pick up the occasional false signal from discarded trash. You can ground the coil in the same way as on the beach. First, hold the G.B. button down while pumping the detector up and down until it becomes silent.
You may find that in a forest setting, valuable items can be buried pretty deep. I suggest having the XP Pinpointer on hand to guide you to the treasure. It helps avoid unnecessary digging and wasting time.
It would be rare to be in a forest where the soil is as highly mineralized as on the beach. However, certain rock formations can have a high iron content, so be aware of the general geology where you plan to hunt for treasure.
Items that were found in the forest using the XP Deus 2:
- 3 coins
- 1 pin
- 1 belt buckle
Take the XP Deus 2 out regularly and learn the different settings while practicing. You will find it easier to use every time.
The best frequencies for valuables like gold, silver, and palladium items are between 30 and 88.
XP Deus 2 – First Test On A Lake Beach
Busy lake beaches are always a great place to take a metal detector for a day of treasure hunting. It’s even better when you have a snorkeling kit and some fins to search the shallow waters for items.
After a busy weekend of visitors swimming and fishing, grab your gear and head out to the beach. Again if there is black sand, you may find it’s similar to the mineralized beach sand, so check your settings.
Using BEACH as a program will work, or GENERAL, you can make adjustments as you go along. Another tip is to use the antenna, especially if you’re walking in shallow water with the coil submerged.
Items found in the lakeside beach and shallow water:
- 3 beavertails
- 1 MatchBox car
- 2 silver rings
- 3 nickles
- 1 fishing weight
XP Deus 2 – First Test On A Relic Site
The best way to find relics is immediately switching the XP Deus 2 to RELIC mode. It’s very similar to its GOLD FIELD mode. However, in RELIC mode, it uses lower subtracted frequencies to locate larger objects.
There is not much falsing in RELIC mode, providing excellent accuracy. You may only need your pinpointer if the soil is very dark or if the item is particularly deep.
Overall, the XP Deus 2 did what is expected from such an advanced machine, and this is what was found:
- 2 old military buttons
- 1 back end of an axe
- 1 fix-blade knife
- 2 old coins – unidentifiable
If the site you are on is particularly iron infested, such as an old homestead on a farm, play around with the discrimination. For example, the XP pinpointer can make digging in a smaller area easier where there is a lot of grass.
Remember to cover the holes and replace the grass sections to prevent erosion and injury to animals or other people.
What Makes The XP Deus 2 Metal Detector A Good Buy?
Considering that the XP Deus 2 is a fully wireless, waterproof metal detector, it is a great first impression.
The XP Deus 2 is one of a handful of metal detectors that can be paired with a waterproof and shock-resistant remote control and a waterproof bone-conduction headset. Both are waterproof to 20 m, making them one of the better choices for underwater exploring.
The advanced and proprietary FMF or Fast and simultaneous Multi Frequency gives you the option and freedom to choose between 49 single frequencies. These frequencies range between 4 and 45kHz. At 4kHz, you can locate items at a greater depth.
There are no messy cables that can get snagged or tangled in branches or shrubs. Instead, the XP Deus 2 is easy to clean and store away. This is one item that should go with you everywhere. The possible discoveries are limitless.
It’s not the cheapest metal detector available, but is it worth the money?
The truth is the price reflects the quality of what you’re getting and the fact that it’s lightweight combined with its superior ergonomics will allow you to hunt for longer, resulting in more finds.
XP Deus 2 VS. XP Deus
The XP Deus has been on the market since 2009. It was marketed as the world’s first fully wireless metal detector and featherlight at only 750g, which is 50g lighter than the new XP Deus 2.
